Outreach within our wider theatre community has always been a staple in Hart House Theatre's mandate and programming. We are thrilled to be able to provide programming for community members both inside U of T, and theatre lovers beyond it.

The Classical Theatre Slam is a thrilling performance opportunity for actors of all experience levels to increase accessibility and inclusivity in the theatre community through the use of non-contemporary text.

The Musical Theatre Slam is a fun performance opportunity for singers, dancers, and theatre artists of all experience levels to take to the stage and celebrate all things musical theatre.

From initial video submissions, a shortlist of performers compete for cash prizes, a special prize from the partnership company, and ultimately, to be crowned the Hart House Theatre Slam Winner. Submissions open every spring.

Past partnering companies have been: Shakespeare Bash'd (For Classical Theatre Slam) and Singular Sensation and Musical Stage Company (For Musical Theatre Slam).
