Theatre School is Over. Now What? Equity Edition offers emerging theatre artists a comprehensive guide on navigating the professional world of theatre post-graduation, with a specific focus on Canadian Actor's Equity.
Led by Equity members Ryan G. Hinds and Kat Chin, this open discussion will cover everything new grads need to know about CAEA from both an onstage and backstage perspective. With a mix of pre-determined and a Q&A session with the audience and panel, students gain valuable knowledge and resources to kickstart their careers in theatre upon graduation. This workshop is your backstage pass to success.
Free and open to all. Join us on Sunday, April 7th from 1 - 3 pm in the Performance Studio at the Centre for Drama and Theatre Performance Studies, located on the main floor of the University College Union (UC Union) building (79 St. George Street).

Kat Chin
Kat has been an active member of the CAEA SM Committee since 2013 and occasionally teaches Stage Management at TMU. Selected Theatre credits include Dido & Aeneas (Opera Atelier); Three Sisters (Howland Company & Hart House Theatre); Queen Goneril, King Lear (Soulpepper); Dixon Road (Musical Stage); Orphans For The Czar (Crow’s Theatre); Tiny Tenement of Terrors (Theatre Sheridan); I Am William (Stratford).

Equity Actor and Director
Ryan G. Hinds
Ryan G. Hinds is a critically acclaimed actor and director, as well as an Associate Artist at lemonTree creations. Dubbed as “a Toronto theatre icon” by CBC, “exuding 100% star quality” by Glenn Sumi, and “one of Toronto’s most beloved cabaret performers” by My Entertainment World, Ryan performed at Hart House in the 2013 production of Bent, directed by Carter West, and was twice elected to CAEA's National Council as Ontario Councillor and 2nd Vice President.
Audiences have seen Ryan’s work onstage in Midsummer Night’s Dream for Canadian Stage Company, #KanderAndEbb; at Stratford Festival and on international tour, Starry Notions for Toronto Fringe, Lilies; Or, the Revival of a Romantic Drama at Buddies in Bad Times, and MacArthur Park Suite: A Disco Ballet for Summerworks, in addition to major events for Nuit Blanche and Pride Toronto (as well as Pride festivals across Canada and the US).
Ryan’s directorial debut at Shaw Festival, A Christmas Carol, is set for November 2024 and follows a season-long stint with Shaw as the 2022 Neil Munro Directing intern (assisting Brian Hill, Philip Akin, and Tim Carroll, and directing Kat Sandler’s Bright Lights). Other directing includes shows for Theatre New Brunswick, Theatre Sheridan, and Vanier College Productions.
