Aspire to move with confidence, stimulating coordination, strengthening and connecting the mind and body through the passion of this ancient dance. Through Q&A and an audience participation presentation, Joanne L. Camilleri will teach about the foundation of this ancient dance that began as a fertility dance, also known as danse du ventre ordance of the stomach. Learn technique through the culture of the anatomy, the mental and physical benefits for the mind and body, and the conception of one of the first forms of dance known to mankind amid the first civilizations as we know it.

Joanne Camilleri
JOanne is an accomplished Maltese - Canadian, Toronto-based freelance performer, choreographer, artistic director and instructor in Middle Eastern and Performance Arts, known as one of the pioneers of fusion Belly Dance. JOanne’s accomplishments span over a 25-year career instructing and entertaining across Canada, US and Europe, cast in Film and appearances in Live Theatre and Reality TV. JOanne’s extensive dance training includes ballet, jazz and various modern dance techniques with the George Randolph College for the Performing Arts, the National Ballet of Canada, Ryerson College, Laval University and studied with well-renowned East Indian, Middle Eastern and Contemporary Circus scholars from around the globe.
Directions
Hart House Theatre is only accessible from the outside of the Hart House building. It is located in the sub-basement of Hart House. The entrances to the Theatre (Audience Entrance and Stage Door) are outside of the building on either side of the entrance into the Arbor Room Cafe. Please enter through the Stage Door, located under the blue U of T banner. There are two flights of stairs to enter the Theatre.
