Overview

Hart House Theatre is thrilled to present James King & The Midnight Hours in concert.

Audiences will recognize James King from his award-winning performance as Hedwig in Hedwig and The Angry Inch, and previous turns in Into The Woods and Jesus Christ Superstar. Based around King's original compositions, the band is a five-piece classic rock trip, served up retro style.

The group features a collection of multi-talented Toronto-based artists with 80 years of combined musical experience: Gaby Grice on keys and vocals, Richard Lam on lead guitar, Mike Lee on drums, Daniel Williston on bass and vocals, and King as front man and lead vocalist. This special one night rock-n-roll concert will feature originals, covers from the era, and a passionate examination of love and loss, through a Queer perspective.

More about the Band...

Regulars in the Toronto music-scene, the band held a year-long residency at The Amsterdam Bicycle Club before branching out to other venues such as: The Cameron House, The Piston, and The Hideout to name a few. In the spring of 2018, the band's single "Nightmare" made the National Top 100 in CBC's Searchlight Competition out of 2,072 artists from across Canada. They continue to perform in venues across the city, and currently are preparing to record their first album in early 2020.

Influenced by many of the great rock acts of the 1970's era, James King & The Midnight Hours are an event. Theatrical, mystical, sensuous, their style ranges from three-part harmony-drenched rock to wild psychedelic ragers. With King's heartfelt, and often romantic, songs at the core, the band never fails to show their dedication to creating honest and emotional music.
