Originally from Okotoks, Alberta, Eva Barrie is a Dora Award-winning actor, director, creator and the Co-Artistic Director of Shakespeare in the Ruff.

She is a graduate of Ryerson University’s Performance Acting Program and has trained with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company in Saratoga Springs, NY and New York City, NY. No stranger to Shakespearean adaptions, Eva was in Berlin’s first Shakespeare in the Park ensemble in a bilingual production of König Heinrich der Vierte, created Ruff’s My Co-Mates & Brothers in Exile,a comedic promenade piece following a refugee’s journey to Canada, and is currently developing an adaption of The Taming of the Shrew with generous support from Factory Theatre (where she is a member of the playwright’s Natural Resources group) and Ruff.

Eva is the Urjo Kareda Residency Recipient at Tarragon Theatre for the 2019/2020 season. Her residency focus is on artistic direction and new play development.

She’s happy to take another swing at this script with her creative partner Kaitlyn, and thanks Hart House Theatre for the opportunity.
