Zine 4 U is a workshop series dedicated to providing personalized accessibility and guidance for those starting their zine journey to established authors. The series, in collaboration with Toronto Zine Library, consists of three sessions involving hands-on zine making, publishing resources, and the chance to network. So, join us, and let's "Zine 4 U" together!

Program Details
Workshop 1: Intro to Zines
Monday, March 20, 2023, 1-3 pm
Reading Room, Hart House
This introductory workshop session will be a crash course on the wide variety of zines and a chance to brainstorm and discuss the type of zine you plan on working on for the following weeks. There will also be a mini-zine-making tutorial to showcase the varied techniques and tips you can use for your project.
Workshop 2: Zine-Making
Sunday, April 2, 2023, 1-3 pm
Reading Room, Hart House
In this session, you will continue creating your zine project and have the chance to share your final idea and receive advice. You can utilize the time in the session to learn different methods personalized to your project. It will be a chance to work alongside other participants in the workshop in a collaborative environment.
Workshop 3: Self-Publishing and Showcase
Saturday, April 15, 2023, 1-3 pm
Reading Room, Hart House
The last session of the workshop series is an opportunity to gain and learn resources to self-publish, including printing spaces, other workshops, and distribution. It will also be a chance to showcase the project you have been working on with the other participants at the Toronto Zine Library to celebrate your hard work.

Saharla Ugas

Saharla Ugas is a current first-year student at the University of Toronto. She’s always had a passion for the arts, from being a part of the TIFF Next Wave Film Committee to working as a Production Assistant for Shakespeare in Action, a theatre company. Saharla’s love for zines has also been a large part of her life, notably the Shotgun Seamstress zine series by Osa Atoe, which chronicles the history of Black punk artists.

Christine Dang is a first-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Social Science with minors in Visual Studies, and Critical Studies in Equity and Solidarity. They are a photographer and multidisciplinary artist whose frenetic work emphasizes the documentation of culture and community in real time. They foster exploration into stories untold and underrepresented.
