Debates Room has achieved the Platinum Sustainability Certification.

Establishing Hart House’s signature bookable rooms as sustainable spaces show our commitment to the university’s shared sustainability goals, looking to the Sustainable Change Programs as a key guide. The Sustainable Change Program enables the U of T community to engage in sustainable action and empowers students, staff, and faculty in leading the community in practice. These certifications are reviewed annually.

Located on the second floor, the Debates Room was designed to create a strong visual impression. The vaulted oak ceiling offers a majestic and elegant atmosphere for formal events. Because of its spaciousness, the Debates Room is also a highly desired wedding venue. Four large stone-framed leaded glass windows, two of which are curved alcoves, dominate the far wall of the space, lending it a nostalgic air. The old-world feel is further enhanced by the stunning original period chandeliers and wood floors.
