Brittany Miranda
Known for her big brassy voice, crazy curly hair and playful creativity, Brittany Miranda (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist and proud alum of the University of Toronto and Sheridan College’s joint theatre program. She has cultivated a diverse theatrical career driven by her goal to spread joy through her art.
Brittany has performed on stages across the country and was most recently seen in Thousand Islands Playhouse’s The Sound of Music this past summer. Her very first musical theatre role in Toronto was with Hart House Theatre in 2017, where her portrayal of Margaret, Carrie’s fanatical mother in Carrie: the musical, landed her on My Entertainment World’s “Outstanding Musical Performance” nominee list. Brittany has taken great delight in performing a large range of roles, from Sally Bowles in Cabaret, to Eddie/Dr. Scott in The Rocky Horror Show, to Alice in Alice in Wonderland. She toured two of Education Arts’ new musicals from their mental health series and was inspired by their positive impacts on youth audiences, especially when school shows switched to virtual adaptations. Brittany is also thankful for the opportunities to honour her Indian roots by acting in shows such as Rukmini’s Gold and The Creases in My Sari.
Beyond acting onstage and on camera, Brittany has gained experience directing, recording, writing and producing. Her direction and co-creation of That Joyce Girl at the Toronto Fringe Festival led to further directing opportunities where she could utilize her devised theatre background and vivid imagination to present beautiful renditions of known stories, such as A Wrinkle in Time, and new tales, like Alumnae Theatre’s F*ck L*ve. Brittany was also the featured vocalist for Imajjine’s jazz recordings of Serenity in Blue and Soft Whispers and works seasonally as a professional caroler singing in a quartet. During the pandemic, Brittany created a personalized song and story experience for elders in long-term care, with support from The Musical Stage Company’s Musical Moments initiative, and is currently collaborating on a new musical creation.
Brittany is thrilled to be returning to Hart House as the featured vocalist for their 2024 Performance Under The Stars, and looks forward to sharing her passion for performance with fellow alumni!
