Overview

A free virtual space that’s all about making stuff, trying new things, and getting creative with the things you have on hand at home. We’ll lead you through hands-on activities in a fun and friendly atmosphere so that you’ll be making crafts in no time, no matter what your skill level or experience. Take a break, make yourself a cup of tea, grab a pen and let’s get to playing, making, and being creative together.

No special tools or techniques required, just a bit of curiosity, creativity and your presence. All welcome!

Oct 29: Hallowe'en Decorations

  • Hallowe’en is NEVER cancelled! Join us to make a few quick and easy Hallowe’en decorations that will get the party started in no time flat using stuff from your recycle bin:
  • Materials: paper (plain paper or colored, magazine paper, newspaper) / pencil or pen / scissors / tape or glue (or even a stapler if you don’t have glue or tape)

Nov 5: How to Draw

  • I know, I know! You think you can’t draw, but we’re here to help you gain the confidence to draw anything. In this workshop, we’ve invited special guest instructor, artist Donna Akrey who will lead us through fun and easy drawing exercises. By the end of the session, you’ll be so impressed with yourself, you’ll want to share your drawings!
  • Materials: pencil or pen / paper / eraser (optional!)

Nov 12: Watercolour Bookmarks

  • Experiment with watercolour paints while creating these beautiful bookmarks! Learn simple watercolour techniques to make beautiful images, no matter what your skill level.
  • Materials: watercolour paints with brushes / watercolour or thicker paper / paper towel or kleenex

Nov 19: Mini Pinatas

  • MINI PINATAS! Yep, we are making these little cuties to keep or give as presents with a sweet surprise inside! A perfect way to give a gift or as a hideaway for your secret treat stash. Bring your imaginations, raid your recycle bin, and we’ll teach you how to make pinatas in any shape you can think of.
  • Materials: pencil or pen / scissors / tape (masking tape is best, but any tape will do) / glue stick / cereal boxes or old cardboard / tissue paper or old magazines

Nov 26:  Gift Tags and Gift Bags

  • Get ready for gift-giving, no matter what the occasion with our easy tutorial on making gift bags and tags out of recycled materials. Using any material you can find at home, you can customize your tags and bags to make something truly unique to complete your gifts.
  • Materials: newspaper or magazines / collage materials: newspaper, magazines, posters, paper scraps, maps whatever you can find / scissors / glue stick or glue / tape (optional) / ribbon or string for handles (optional)

Dec 3: Mason Jar Gifts

  • Want to make a thoughtful gift that’s useful and well within budget? Upcycle jars and raid the pantry! In this session, we’ll show you some cute ways to decorate jars and fill them with yummy recipes for hot chocolate or cookies that anyone would appreciate receiving as a gift!
  • Materials: clean jars / paper or fabric scraps / string, embroidery floss or ribbon / paper, pens
