Hart House Student Farm Committee

Introduction

The Hart House Farm Committee organizes social activities, food and agriculture projects, and works to maintain the Hart House Farm in Caledon.

For each event that the Farm Committee hosts, we strive to create an environment where people can come together, meet new people, learn something new, and create some long-lasting memories. Committee meetings are held once a month and subcommittees meet as needed. New members and volunteers are always welcome!

The Farm Committee has a fivefold mandate:

  • Creating developmental policies within a sustainability, decolonial, and equity framework; including Land use and food security.
  • Organizing social activities at the Farm and on campus, including events such as Cider ‘n Song, Sugaring Off, and the Hart House Plant Sale.
  • Encouraging students to reflect and build on their relationship with nature and the Land.
  • Delivering educational workshops on topics such as food justice, urban agriculture, and Indigenous relationships with the Land.
  • And working in alliance with campus groups to promote sustainability, a personal connection to nature, and food security.
