The Hart House A/V Tech Mentorship Program provides youth the opportunity to gain practical experience with different careers in the audio/visual field while earning a stipend (payment) for their commitment. Audio-Visual (AV) technicians set up, operate, and maintain multimedia equipment for events.
The A/V Tech Mentorship Program aims to:
Host 9 hours of hands-on workshop learning on topics like audio, video, and lighting.
Connect youth to immersive learning opportunities related to audio-visual programming at Hart House.
Offer career exploration, and provide sector-relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
Provide a barrier-free experience for participants.
Provide mentorship under the guidance of an experienced mentor in the field.

Who can apply?
Youth ages 16-18 who identify with one or more of the following groups are strongly encouraged to apply: Indigenous youth, Black youth, Racialized youth, Queer youth, Muslim youth who identify as women, Non-binary and Trans youth.

When will this take place?
Sessions will take place during March Break on March 11, March 12, and March 13 from 1pm-4pm. Each session is different, and it is expected that participants attend all three sessions.

Where will the sessions take place?
Sessions will be hosted in-person in the Debates Room at Hart House, located on the downtown University of Toronto Campus. For directions to Hart House, please click here.

What is the commitment?
A/V Tech Mentees are expected to commit to and complete approximately 16 apprenticeship hours. This includes the three workshop sessions and attending additional immersive learning opportunities that invite mentees into audio/visual-related programming at Hart House.
Mentees will be expected to complete all necessary accompanying materials provided during programming, including post-program reflections and surveys.

What is the pay & hours?
Mentees will receive $250.00 as a one-time payment upon completion of the above commitments at the end of the program.

How do I apply?

The application form will close on February 21, 2024.
