We danced, we stretched, we did good at the Zumba Yogathon

by Terri

The morning of Sunday November 6 began as any day should, with enthusiasm and energy. The Fitness for Food event, organized jointly by U.T.S.U., Hart House and the Faculty of Phys Ed & Health, started in the Hart House Music Room as early as 9:00 am for some. Quite a crowd gathered, fully geared for a day of health-conscious activities for a good cause—the U.T.S.U. Food and Clothing Bank.

Sharing my Movies on YouTube

Finally got around to creating my own YouTube channel: I am going to start shovelling my short movies up there. Please check them out: comedies, music videos and little art docs - all very short. Most were made with the help of Hart House when I was just starting out.

Notes to Self

I’m trying to remind myself and organize for what will be one of the most hectic months to come…and I know I’m not the only one! It’s that time of year again…and I’m a little too excited. It’s been a long summer so I’m sure we’re all a little rusty of what we need to do, and more importantly what we need to remember!  As you guys gather your togas and textbooks, with September being one of the busiest months of the year, here are a few things you don’t want to miss.

September is key

Crafting at Hart House

Yesterday marked our first official Craft Programming Kick off. Many students, staff and even faculty came by to try their hand at making a friendship bracelet. Some people stuck around and chatted with new and old friends while others grabbed some material, had a quick tutorial and went on their way. Some students even came back to show off their bracelet.

Learning Outside the Classroom

A new school year is beginning. For many, especially if you are—like me—going into your last term, this year is your last opportunity to experience student life.  I feel more passionately today than at any point in my undergraduate degree towards getting involved in extracurricular life at U of T.  Having spent the first two years of my undergrad almost completely uninvolved in anything outside of academia, I now only have one year left to make the most of this undergraduate experience.

Ramadan Reflections

August 1, marked the start of Ramadan 2011 for Muslims across the world. Ramadan is a month on the Islamic Calendar and it comprises of no eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset. No eating may sound doable; however no water is a stretch for some especially during the long hot summer days. But let me say this, fasting is all about self-control and self-discipline.
