This technical workshop is geared towards student who will be working on shows in Hart House Theatre or would like to learn more about working in the technical aspects of Theatre. These seminar-based event will have 4 stations that participants will rotate through covering the following areas: programming on the lighting board, mixing on the sound console, using QLab MAC program to run audio and/or video cues and a session on Going into a Theatre, which will help prepare for your Technical Rehearsals when you are short on time! Participants of all experience levels are welcome!
Directions
Hart House Theatre is only accessible from the outside of the Hart House building. It is located in the sub-basement of Hart House. The entrances to the Theatre (Audience Entrance and Stage Door) are outside of the building on either side of the entrance into the Arbor Room Cafe. Please enter through the Stage Door, located under the blue U of T banner. There are two flights of stairs to enter the Theatre. Gillian Lewis
Education and Production Coordinator
Gillian joined the Hart House Team in July 2013. She worked professionally in theatre for over a decade as a freelance stage manager and production manager for independent theatre and dance. She has worked in a variety of mediums including dance, plays, musicals, storytelling, children's theatre, puppetry, opera, festivals, site-specific work and touring. Gillian has had the pleasure of working in many genres of performance including remounts, new works, collective creation, performed ethnography and improv. Gillian has worked with companies of various sizes including Alberta Theatre Projects, CanAsian Dance Festival, Dancemakers, Eldritch Theatre, Fallen Rock Productions, Gailey Road Productions, inDANCE, The National Ballet of Canada, Princess Productions, ProArteDanza, Public Recordings, Shrimp Magnet Theatre Company, Theatre Centre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Toronto Dance Theatre and YOU Dance. IATSE Local 58 Technicians
Local 58 is the Toronto local of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada (IATSE). For more than 100 years, we have provided professional staging services to the Toronto entertainment, convention, and trade show industries. Our highly trained members work at venues across Toronto and have a wealth of experience in set construction, rigging, sound, lighting and video installation, and show production support.
