About the program:

The Hart House Hip Hop Education Program is a one-of-a-kind initiative designed to provide a platform for students and community to explore Hip Hop as an art form and social movement. Our program goes beyond the surface to delve into the rich history, cultural significance, economic impact, and creative potential of Hip Hop.

Fall 2024

This term we launch a new Talking Walls exhibit (Redefining the Cypher: Women in Canada Hip Hop Exhibit) that focusses on Canadian Hip Hop culture and the role that women have played in driving its direction forward. We are also proud to launch two new programs focussed on craft and performance! Hip Hop Masterclass is focussed on various forms of Hip Hop knowledge and leverages the expertise of practitioners and those adjacent to Hip Hop culture as they share their unique areas of. Against the Stacks–presented in partnership with Roots Rhymes Collective – provides an opportunity to learn about the music of celebrated Canadian Hip Hop musicians as they share their art in a live, intimate, and stripped down setting up against the bookshelves of our Hart House library.
