Fitness Centre Terms & Policies
Membership Terms
You may join the Hart House Fitness Centre at any point throughout the year. All Membership fees are adjusted (pro-rated) to reflect the length of your membership, based on the date you sign up. The pricing displayed on harthouse.ca does not include HST. Learn more about Hart House Fitness Centre membership options.
Annual memberships offer a fixed-term end date of August 31, regardless of when you join. This Membership option is not successive and must be renewed by re-enrolling for the next membership term for continued access to the Fitness Centre. The Annual Membership term is from September 1 to August 31.
Monthly auto-renew memberships offer successive billing with no fixed end date to the Membership.
Membership Cancellation Policy
Annual Memberships require a 4-month minimum commitment. You may cancel your Membership with 30 days written notice by emailing [email protected]. Your final payment/refund will account for the actual days that your Membership was active and is issued at the time that your request to cancel is processed.
Monthly Auto-Renew Memberships require a 3-month minimum commitment. Members must provide 30 days written notice when cancelling their Membership. Depending on your next payment date, you may be required to make subsequent payments before your account is closed.
Trial Memberships, including Day Passes and One-Month Memberships, are non-refundable.
In consideration of Hart House’s acceptance of my Membership application, I agree to the terms outlined, and I acknowledge, understand and am aware that:

I recognize and accept the existence of risk in all sports and activities, be they accidental or inherent in the sport. I hereby fully release and waive all legal recourse I may have against the Governing Council of the University of Toronto, its agents, servants and assigns, for any and all claims resulting from bodily injury, personal injury, accident, illness, death, damage to, or loss of property sustained by me in the course of or as a result of my participation in any event including as a direct or indirect result thereof. This waiver shall be binding upon my successors, heirs, executors, administrators, trustees and my legal and/or personal representatives.

Access to Hart House Fitness Centre Facilities:
All members must present a valid U of T student card, or Hart House Fitness Centre membership card at the Fitness Main Desk upon entry. For the safety and security of all our members, we enforce a “no card, no entry” policy. Kindly present your membership card at each visit to limit disappointment. Members are required to wear athletic attire and footwear. Please lock all personal belongings, including outerwear and bags in a day locker or your rented locker before proceeding to exercise areas within the facility.
Locker Rental Terms:
Locker rentals are non-refundable and expire at the end of your rental agreement or when your Membership expires or is cancelled, whichever comes first. Your locker may be renewed with your membership renewal. If you do not wish to renew your locker, all locker contents must be removed by the end of your locker agreement. A $25.00 locker expiry fee will apply to retrieve belongings after your locker agreement has ended. Items that remain in the locker two weeks following the locker expiry date will be donated or discarded.
Personal Training Policy:
A valid Hart House Fitness Centre Membership is required to access and participate in personal training services. Personal training sessions will not be scheduled with a trainer before the purchase of a training package.
A 24-hour cancellation policy is in place for all training sessions that have been confirmed by the trainer and client in advance. If a client does not show up (“no-show”) for a scheduled session, or if a session is cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of a scheduled training session, then the client forfeits the session, and the session will not be eligible for refund.
All training sessions expire six months following the date of purchase. Sessions remaining following the expiration date are non-refundable and considered as redeemed.
Unauthorized Instruction or Personal Training:
Personal training is conducted exclusively by Hart House personal training staff. Members are not permitted to conduct or solicit for personal training within Hart House. Groups may not conduct, for-profit or otherwise, classes which duplicate regular Hart House programming.
Photography:
Unauthorized photography of any kind is strictly prohibited in the Fitness Centre. Permission to use cameras or other photographic equipment must be obtained in advance by submitting a written request to the Information Services Desk by emailing [email protected].
Your Feedback:
Your feedback is important to us. Please email the Information Services Desk at [email protected], and a member of our team will address your feedback as soon as possible.
