Established in 2016, Black Graduation is a ceremony that highlights the accomplishments of Black students on the undergraduate and graduate level.

Overview

Established in 2016, Black Graduation is an annual ceremony that highlights the achievements of black students at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is an important milestone that brings together Black students and their supporters from all three campuses to celebrate as one.

Trials and Triumphs has been selected as this year’s theme and serves to reflect the ups and downs that the Class of 2022 and our UofT community alike has faced through the COVID-19 pandemic. Navigating academics, social and personal life challenges and the unpredictability that became the norm of this past year. You name it, our students overcame it, all while facing unique challenges and systemic barriers. Despite it all, our graduates have become a prime example of what it means to demonstrate scholarship, tenacity and academic excellence and innovation in their pursuit of knowledge.

This event will serve as testimony to the hard work, trails and eventual triumph of each Black student as they celebrate their graduation with their peers and take in an afternoon of speakers, performances and community.

Hart House hosted the very first Black Grad and is proud to continue its support for this BSA-led initiative. Congratulations Black Graduates, Class of 2022!
