Overview
Test out your skills and see if you have what it takes to DJ. This 5-week DJ program is a unique opportunity to explore the history and evolution of Hip Hop DJ culture while gaining the technical skills to play for a crowd (or just your friends and fam).
Professional DJ and Sound Designer DJ Craig Brooklyn will lead you through this customized program to learn, develop and hone your digital and vinyl turntable skills. Upon completion of the program, you’ll be transformed from a passive listener to an engaged entertainer while understanding the roots of DJ culture.
Program consists of a vibrant mix of history, psychology, technology, creativity and practical execution on a live digital and vinyl turntable set. The following element will be covered:
- The cultural history and evolution of DJing
- Understanding and using a live DJ set both vinyl & digital turntables
- Learning how to think and listen like a DJ
- Song structure and song selection techniques
- The fundamentals of mixing and scratching
- Tapping into creativity and psychology for playlist development
All students are welcome to register – No experience necessary – We encourage students to complete all 5 sessions to graduate as an Emerging DJ.
