Writing can be challenging, even in the best of times. Yet the rewards are numerous and sometimes unpredictable. Let's all write, together!

What to expect

The Hart House Literary and Library Committee will begin each gathering with some writing prompts and low pressure social interactions, followed by some quiet(ish) time to focus and write with the collective support of fellow participants to boost motivation and productivity. Our hope is to help create a supportive community of people interested in writing but you don't have to consider yourself a writer to join.

We would like to offer a safe space for writers to express their feelings, explore their ideas, or simply invoke quiet, peaceful moments to inspire your writing. There is no pressure to share what you write—or even to write well. This is a chance to help get motivated together!

The kind of writing you do will vary depending on your needs and interests and could include creative writing, journaling, academic writing or even friendly post-it notes you write yourself. It's up to you! It can be difficult to discern what sparks our creative energy. Is it the world around us? The people we encounter? During isolation finding a muse is even more challenging, and staying indoors can create gloomy feelings of lethargy. Together, we can all make sure to keep our creative spirits alive and active!
