Hart House Symphonic Band

Introduction

The Hart House Symphonic Band is an amateur music ensemble composed of U of T students and alumni that performs a variety of genres of music at a high level of musicianship.

We aim to create a cohesive group that is connected by each member’s desire to play and perform varied and challenging repertoire in a fun and relaxed musical atmosphere. Our weekly rehearsals led by dynamic conductor Mark Saresky, culminate in at least two public concerts per year, one at the end of each term. Like all Hart House Clubs, membership is open to all. The Symphonic Band is committed to giving students the opportunities to conduct, as well as to perform as soloist in chamber ensembles.

Auditions for the Hart House Symphonic Band take place in early September and January for new members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 5:30–7:45 pm.

Playing with the HHSB is a lot of fun and allows our members an opportunity to continue their love of playing concert band material with like minded enthusiasts on campus.
