Toronto-born chef, Suzanne Baby (ba’bee) points to her upbringing in a food-savvy French-Canadian home as the spark that ignited her passion for great-tasting cuisine.
Her formal training began in Europe and Asia where Suzanne took cooking jobs to finance her globetrotting. A highly coveted apprenticeship followed at Stockholm’s famous Uto Bageri.
Returning home, she completed a culinary management degree with an apprenticeship at Toronto’s landmark Windsor Arms Hotel before moving on to stints at some of the city’s best-loved restaurants, including Bistro 990, Splendido, Lakes Bar & Grill and Acqua Ristorante.
In 1996, Suzanne was hired by the University of Toronto to oversee development of Hart House’s Gallery Grill, an on-campus oasis of fine food that has garnered raves from patrons and critics alike.
