About: Kat Sandler is a writer, director and Artistic Director of Theatre Brouhaha. She has staged fourteen of her original plays in the last eight years, including hits Punch Up, Liver and Delicacy. Her play, Mustard (Tarragon Theatre) won the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play (General Division), and Bang Bang (Factory Theatre) was nominated for the same award in 2018. She was the 2015 recipient of NOW Magazine’s Audience Choice Award for Best Director and Best Playwright, and the winner of the Austin Film Festival Award for Best Podcast Script. Kat is currently working on several television projects and writing and co-directing The Party and The Candidate to be staged concurrently at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton in April. She’d like to thank the original team that brought Retreat to life in 2014, and everyone at Hart House for bringing it back.

About: Claire Burns is a queer actor, director, theatre creator, producer and feminist. Claire holds an HBA in Political Science and History from U of T as well as a degree in Classical Performance from George Brown Theatre School. Claire is the Artistic Managing Director of the Storefront Theatre in Toronto. She is committed to reducing how discrimination based on race, gender expression, sexuality, ability and mental health manifests in theatrical ecology and practice. She is a co-founder of We Are Egg Donors and an advocate for egg donors in Canada for which she has appeared on CBC’s The National and in the Globe and Mail. About: Lin is a multi-discipline theatre practitioner. Her primary focus is stage management with some lighting design and dabbles in props. About: Louisa is an actor and performance combat artist based in Toronto. She is a Certified Fight Instructor with Fight Directors Canada and is also the Director of Training for the Academy of Fight Directors Canada. Louisa is also part of the teaching faculty at George Brown College (Acting for Media Program) and Rapier Wit.

About: Natalia is currently studying electrical engineering at UofT and spending too much time at Hart House Theatre. She has been working on many different parts of the productions to gain experience to continue to work in theatre after graduation. After working as a scenic painter in Skule Nite for two years, she is excited to expand her experience as the assistant set designer for Retreat and to work with such an amazing designer as Christine.
About: Hareem is a (future) engineer by day, theatre enthusiast by night. After seeing Steph’s amazing work on The Penelopiad she is extremely excited to work alongside them on Retreat. She is currently plotting to permanently reside in Hart House Theatre.

About: Samantha is a second year U of T student studying statistics, economics and math. Samantha has loved theatre since the age of four when she played Tinkerbelle in Peter Pan. A trained musical theatre performer, ballet dancer and opera singer, Samantha has worked both on and behind stage for several community and professional productions. Samantha aspires for a career in finance, eventually hoping to one day produce her own broadway musical. She wishes to thank Chiara for never letting her throw away her shot.
