Pilates is type of overall body conditioning that works on flexibility, muscle strength and endurance with an emphasis on core stability and strength. Beginners new to fitness find that Pilates is one of the best places to start. Once your core is strong, all other exercises become less challenging. This may be why more and more athletes, martial artists and weightlifters are discovering the benefits of adding a Pilates compontent to their training.
This section will introduce you to some classic Pilates workouts. Many of the movements are very subtle so before trying out any of these moves, we suggest to take some of our drop-in classes that are free to members or one of our registered Pilates classes. When in doubt, there’s always Youtube, But be cautious when trying out these exercises or embarking on any fitness program. Nothing beats in-person guidance and Hart House has some of the best instructors around!
