Introduction to Documentary Filmmaking - 7248
Description: Explore the core concepts, processes and techniques of documentary filmmaking while we cover the major genres and elements, including ethics, the art of the interview, narration, archival and stock footage, styles of shooting, funding and distribution. Screenings and discussion of films will provide an overview of the historical, conventional, experimental and emerging forms of the doc.
This class is intended for students actively working on a doc or for those seeking an introduction in preparation for a future production. Students in need of equipment experience are encouraged to take the various equipment and hands-on classes Hart House offers. The Hart House Film Board also offers inexpensive equipment rentals.
