Some of Toronto’s best emerging singer songwriters come together with the Chamber Strings to form a unique and beautiful shared repertoire. The opportunity to have their music classically re-arranged and then performed live is often one that is too good to pass up. Eclectic performances, haunting lyrics and beautiful melodies all conspire to create a one of a kind concert going experience.

About Oliver Balaburski the conductor: Oliver has performed with many distinguished orchestras and ensembles throughout his career including the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra in London and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been involved in many successful opera premieres such as La Bohéme, Don Giovanni and Aida. In 1999 while still at the Royal College of Music, he was awarded the Norman Del Mar Junior Fellowship in Conducting studied under the tutelage of Professor John Carewe. Upon returning from the UK he was appointed Artistic Manager of the Opera of Macedonian National Theatre, In 2006, he started his Master studies in Performance at the University of Toronto and he has been Conductor of the Hart House Chamber strings since 2008.
Conducted by Oliver Balaburski, the Hart House Chamber Strings are dedicated to the preservation and performance of traditional chamber strings music. Due to their size, the Chamber Strings are sometimes able to tackle a more eclectic repertoire than traditional chamber music. The group is composed of approximately 40 students and senior members who pride themselves on a commitment to practice and having fun.
