The Photographic Representation of Atmospheric Perspective in the Silver-Chloride Contact Print
This second lecture by Aubie Golombek will further explore the optical properties of atmospheric perspective as previously discussed in his Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder photographic lecture.
The first part of the lecture will consist of reading the brilliant sub-chapter devoted to atmospheric perspective and optics in Alois Riegl’s “The Historical Grammar of the Visual Arts” (1897-1898).
In the second part of the lecture he will show a new body of contact prints inspired by the atmospheric perspectives of Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel The Elder, and Caspar David Friedrich.
