Hart House Partners with The Runner’s Academy

for new Learn to Run Program

In partnership with The Runner’s Academy, Hart House is offering a 11-week learn-to-run program. Each week covers a different aspect of run form, run training (includes strength and stretching), as well as other topics of interest in the group.  Each session includes 30 mins of running and 20–30 mins of other work (strength, stretch, drills, and education). Participants will also have the chance to develop their run technique with instructor Jordan Collison. At the end of the program, the runners will participate in the 2017 Santa Shuffle 5K run.

About Janie Sheppard

Janie is a Registered Kinesiologist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, graduated from the University of Western Ontario. She has 10 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, and utilizes her skills surrounding injury rehabilitation, strength training, gait retraining, and sport specific training to help her clients.

Janie has amazing practice in helping people achieve their goals and is passionate about educating her clients about exercise and health. Through the study of human movement, Janie is able to assess movement issues and prescribe specific programs to help with injury avoidance and improve performance.

As co-founder of The Runner’s Academy, Janie’s passion and knowledge for everything from the mechanics of running to advice for rest and recovery comes through in her programs. She is a long time soccer player, runner and triathlete.
