A cropped image of a TrumpetDetails: Jim Lewis is a freelance trumpet player, improviser, composer/arranger and educator, and is currently a Lecturer in the Jazz Studies Department at the University of Toronto. He can be heard in clubs in the Toronto area, and across the country as a sideman and with his own projects from duo to sextet. Leading students in the jazz programme, Jim Lewis leads the 11 O’ Clock Banda group that stays true to its roots– paying homage to big bands while providing a platform for students to breathe new life into old standards and take this inspirational style of jazz into the next century.
