Hart House Chamber String Orchestra Presents Stabat Mater


An image of violins (painting)Details: The Hart House Chamber String Orchestra presents the piece Stabat Mater by composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1736) in a concert featuring the Chamber String Orchestra, Conductor Oliver Balaburski, and two guest opera singers. The combined sound of the string instruments and the harmonious voice of the singers brings life to music created three centuries ago.

About Oliver Balabursk: Oliver has performed with many distinguished orchestras and ensembles throughout his career including the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra in London and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been involved in many successful opera premieres such as La Bohéme, Don Giovanni and Aida. In 1999 while still at the Royal College of Music, he was awarded the Norman Del Mar Junior Fellowship in Conducting and studied under the tutelage of Professor John Carewe. Upon returning from the UK he was appointed Artistic Manager of the Opera of Macedonian National Theatre, In 2006, he started his Master studies in Performance at the University of Toronto and he has been Conductor of the Hart House Chamber strings since 2008.
